Munro
Munro came into existence early one morning in 1998, when God gave a young man a new name, a new life and a new career. Believing God’s promise, he started looking for paint brushes, but found only builders’ trowels, and started painting with these trowels. The rest is, as they say, history. Munro became an overnight success. By the end of 2009 almost 11,000 Munro paintings have been sold, making Munro one of South Africa’s best-selling artists ever.
In 2009 Munro retired from being a full-time artist, giving up the long hours to only spending a morning or two per week behind the easel. A wanderer at heart, Munro has lived in and around Pilgrims Rest, Graskop, Pretoria, Melkbosstrand, Marina Beach, Lephalale, and Bethulie. He currently resides in Melkbosstrand and Port Owen.
Munro has a confident style which he executes with love and boldness. This comes with a great understanding of his medium, oil. He depicts a wide variety of international images from African Savanna’s to Tuscan Hills, Ripe Vineyards and the Moody Autumn light. The surrounding landscapes and his travels throughout Europe has inspired him to capture colourful and life like landscapes.
In his still life paintings, his passion for colour and texture are reflected.
The change in his lifestyle has brought on a new philosophy, which is revealed in his paintings. His life is positive in words and deeds.
His paintings are represented in corporate and private collections, throughout South Africa and abroad.
