Christiaan Nice is a South African painter. He is best known for his Impressionistic depictions of cattle carts, still lifes, South African landscapes, and harbor scenes, which are familiar images to the artist. The figures featured in Nice’s paintings are dwarfed by landscapes and buildings, which in his tonally muted compositions create an overall sense of tranquility. Born on March 13, 1939 in Pretoria, South Africa, Nice is entirely self-taught. He lives and works in Cape Town, South Africa.
